DEF Contamination Warning
If you suspect that DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) has been added to the fuel tank, do not start the engine.
Starting the engine can pull DEF into the high‑pressure fuel system and cause severe, often catastrophic damage to injectors, pumps, and fuel rails.
Action:
Leave the engine of and order the test.
Then call your mechanic.
IF you did it by mistake call your insurance company, you may find that “mis-fueling” is covered.

Test Procedure
Place the colored end down into the test tube
Add questionable liquid.
As little as 0.1% DEF will turn the strip green and the same 0.1% water will give the same reaction. At 1% DEF the strip will begin to turn BLUE in a few seconds.
